What is Included in Your P&L?
Your total P&L is calculated by aggregating performance across all of the following sources:
1. Crypto & Fiat Holdings
Any change in the USD value of assets you hold in your Wallet. If the market price of a cryptocurrency you own goes up or down, this is reflected in your P&L for the selected period.
Example: You hold 1 ETH. If ETH rises from $3,000 to $3,500 during the selected period, your P&L from this holding is +$500.
2. Spot Trading
Realized gains and losses from buying and selling cryptocurrencies on the Spot market. Each completed trade contributes to your P&L based on the difference between the buy and sell price.
Formula:
P&L = (Sell Price − Buy Price) × Quantity
Spot P&L examples
Scenario 1 — Buy and Hold (Price Drops)
You buy 1 BTC at $80,000. The current market price is $65,000.
(65,000 − 80,000) × 1 = −$15,000
You have not sold the asset:
- Realized P&L = $0
- The account may display −$15,000 based on current market valuation.
The loss becomes realized only if you sell.
Scenario 2 — Buy and Hold (Price Rises)
You buy 1 BTC at $80,000. The current market price is $100,000.
(100,000 − 80,000) × 1 = +$20,000
- Realized P&L = $0
- Performance metrics may reflect the price increase
Profit becomes realized only after selling.
Scenario 3 — Buy → Sell Everything
You buy 1 BTC at $80,000, then sell 1 BTC at $95,000.
(95,000 − 80,000) × 1 = +$15,000
Final state:
- BTC balance = 0
- Realized P&L = +$15,000
- No further market exposure
This is a fully closed position.
Scenario 4 — Buy → Partial Sell → Buy Again
Step 1: Buy 1 BTC at $80,000.
Step 2: Sell 0.4 BTC at $90,000.
Realized P&L (Trade #1): (90,000 − 80,000) × 0.4 = +$4,000
Remaining balance: 0.6 BTC.
Step 3: Buy 0.6 BTC at $70,000. New total balance: 1.2 BTC.
Cost structure:
- 0.6 BTC at $80,000
- 0.6 BTC at $70,000
If current price = $75,000:
Portion A: (75,000 − 80,000) × 0.6 = −$3,000 Portion B: (75,000 − 70,000) × 0.6 = +$3,000 Net market impact = $0
Realized P&L so far = +$4,000
3. Rewards
Any bonuses, referral rewards, promotional credits, or other platform rewards credited to your account are counted as positive P&L contributions.
4. Earn
Income received from Earn products — such as staking, savings, or yield programmes — is included as P&L. This covers both distributed and accrued returns depending on the product type.
Example: You stake assets and receive weekly yield distributions. These accumulate as positive P&L over time.
5. Futures & CFDs
Realized and unrealized P&L from leveraged positions on the Futures and CFD accounts. This includes:
- Closed position P&L (realized)
- Open position P&L (unrealized) — can be seen when selecting Current unrealized P&L on the Trade screen.
CFDs P&L examples
Realized P&L formula:
P&L = (Closing Price − Opening Price) × Position Size − Fees
Fees may include trading fees and overnight/swap charges, depending on position duration and platform conditions.
Note: Fees are not included in the examples below. Applicable trading fees may reduce your final profit or increase your loss.
Realized P&L example (Long position):
- Open: BTC CFD at $30,000
- Close: $31,500
- Position size: 0.5 BTC
Gross P&L (before fees): (31,500 − 30,000) × 0.5 = +$750
Final Realized P&L = Gross P&L − Applicable Fees
Unrealized P&L formula:
Unrealized P&L = (Current Price − Entry Price) × Position Size
Unrealized P&L does not include closing fees, as the position remains open.
Unrealized P&L example:
- Entry: $30,000
- Current price: $29,200
- Position size: 1 BTC
Unrealized P&L = (29,200 − 30,000) × 1 = −$800
Unrealized P&L changes in real time and becomes realized only when the position is closed.
Futures P&L examples
Realized P&L formula:
P&L = (Closing Price − Entry Price) × Contract Size − Fees
Fees may include trading fees and funding payments (for perpetual futures), depending on market conditions.
Note: Fees are not included in the examples below. Applicable trading fees may reduce your final profit or increase your loss.
Realized P&L example (Long position):
- Position: Long ETH Futures
- Entry: $2,000
- Exit: $2,100
- Size: 2 ETH
Gross P&L (before fees): (2,100 − 2,000) × 2 = +$200
Final Realized P&L = Gross P&L − Applicable Fees
Unrealized P&L formula:
Unrealized P&L = (Current Price − Entry Price) × Contract Size
Unrealized P&L does not include closing fees. Funding payments, if applicable, are calculated separately according to the funding rate.
Unrealized P&L example:
- Entry: $2,000
- Current price: $1,950
- Size: 2 ETH
Unrealized P&L = (1,950 − 2,000) × 2 = −$100

Frequently Asked Questions
Does depositing funds affect my P&L?
No. Deposits and Withdrawals are treated as neutral cash flows and do not inflate or deflate your P&L figure.
Why is P&L different between the Wallet and Trade screens?
The Wallet screen shows your overall portfolio P&L including all holdings and income. The Trade screen focuses on your open and closed trading activity. The Current unrealized P&L option is only available on the Trade screen.
Are Earn rewards shown in real time?
Accrual frequency depends on the specific Earn product. Some rewards are distributed daily, others by the end of subscription. Your P&L will update as rewards are credited to your account.
